I got worms --- er ... I mean pnumonia

by tyler

The planning is just about rapped up. We wired money to our producer for our accomidations in Edinburgh, we found couches to sleep on in Oxford, and our director has invited us for a stay at his house out in South Wales before we begin rehersals on the 13th. We also, after many confrences, experimental phases, and test runs have settled on a travel blog. It was a shockingly difficult decition. The Modblog that we were using for a while was such a chore, and trusty old blogger finially pulled ahead. The only thing we really have left to do around here is pack and get over our sicknesses. Yes, we are sick, and not just Robitussen sick. I went to a doctor this weekend and that's what he told me to take, and after two bottles, gallons of water, and a week of going to bed like I was in Jr. High again (yes, I had a bed time in Jr. High: 8:00 on the dot), I went back to the doctor (my doctor, the non-weekend doctor, the does more than listen to you cough and ask you what you've been drinking doctor), he said he think I might have pnumonia. After a chest x-ray and some questions (well, the questions actually came first; he's not one of those gamma doctors that shoot you with x-rays every chance he can get. he graduated from Duke, and if there is anything i know about Duke, it is a liberal arts college and Coach K coaches there, so it must be good...besides, he knew about the Fringe Festival); after some diagnosis, I recieved a prescription and am on my way to feeling better (but keep your fingers crossed and your prayers going). Oh yea, and Alex has got a sinus infection and possible pnumonia as well...we are quite a pair. For those of you who may not know what this is about, let me allow you to read the email that was sent to me a couple of months ago, to get to you up to date:

hey Tyler,

Glad all is good with you - what is the Bourgeoise Gentleman? Do you have a good role?Exciting oxford news - there is a new "burlesque" night in oxford. Its on tuesday's at jongleurs, and is pretty cool is a smut-free but slightly kinkyand very camp way! Now, the big one...How would you feel about being involved in my edinburgh show? I have a very experienced producer and we're applying to some major venues, with a good chance of getting in. Its an amazing play, and I'd love to work with you again. If you can do a southern gent accent, I think you'd be ideal to play the male lead, Uncle Peck. Do you remember when at the cast party I told you I would love to see you in a more challenging role than Flan? Well, this is such a role. Have a read of the play and see what you think. It would be so immense if you were up for this. You're such a charismatic and engaging actor, it would befantastic to see you in such a dark and multifaceted role - when I read theplay I thought how wonderful it would be if you could play the role. Edinburgh is an amazing experience - there are so many tremendous plays and its such a fun month. We'll be rehearsing in england (either oxford, london or south wales) for about three weeks in July, and then we're applying to venues to perform for the entire month of august. I know therefore that this would be a large chunk of time, but socially and artistically it would be immense. You'd love the festival, they have about 1500 plays on, and there are usually 20 onsimultaenously, starting at 10.00am and finishing at about 1.00am. Everyconceivable space is turned into a theatre. Last year, this included a lift, a taxi and some huge abondoned warehouses (one of the spaces we're applying to). we would be able to provide accomodation for alex too, both in edinburgh and also where we end up rehearsing in july. financially, if the play makes a profit we hope to be able to retrospectively subsidise accomodation in edinburgh, and accom in july will be almost certaintly be free, as our producer(who's v wealthy!) can put us up in his london home, and edinburgh is quite acheap place to eat/drink/live. Any questions about the play or practical issues let me know.

Much love (and fingers crossed)
jamesxxx

After that, we secured Alex a role/job as a kind of costume and all porpose theatre guru, so that she could get something out of this as well. Both of us are really looking forward to this trip. Alot is going to be learned and experienced; we will do our best to keep things updated. Please feel free to comment on any entries or pictures that you see here and please browse the links that we have provided about the trip.

Hey, so my girlfriend (Lindsey) knows a girl from Kenewick who is going to be IN the Fringe Festival....I forgot what her acting troupe is performing (or what they're called for that matter), but they've won state competitions before. Anyway, Lindsey herself will be in the area on a missions trip when you and Alex are there. I told Alex to get ahold of her so maybe you all could see each other. ANYWAY....I'll be excited to hear about your journeys. God speed. ~Lance

I'm glad you guys got safely on your way. I'm bummed though, you guys leave for the US the day I leave for the UK. Maybe we'll pass each other in the air. I'll wave at all the airplanes.
Be safe, and have a blast!
